Our third Summer Retreat is held at the beautiful campus of the
University of California, Santa Cruz, nestled in the
redwoods overlooking Monterey Bay.
The Retreat provides a unique opportunity for aikidoists at all levels. Weapons instruction, meditation, and chanting are also offered. Activities take place in the spacious and skylighted dojo, or outside. During lunch breaks we may discuss provocative aikido topics or learn to better care for our bodies. After training, various recreational opportunities are offered, such as swimming, receiving a massage, or enjoying the many cultural or outdoor enjoyments on the campus. We leave renewed in body, mind, and spirit.
(M = all meals, B = barbecue, T = training fees, P = parking permit, H = housing -- rooms are double occupancy in spacious 2-bedroom apartments).
The first meal is Sat dinner, the last meal is Thu lunch. Lunch package options for non-residents are available in advance: breakfast $5.25, lunch $6.25, dinner $7.25, served at the dining hall. Vegetarian options always possible.

The two closet international airports to Santa Cruz are San Jose (45 min) and San Francisco (90 min). Shuttle service is available from either airport directly to the retreat. Domestic airports are Watsonville and Monterey, from which transportation must be arranged individually.
If you as a participant of the retreat would like to extend the magnificent opportunity to aikidoists in need of financial relief (such as passionate, but starving students), please consider making a donation of $20 (or more) to keep this community-based endeavor florishing. Last year several thankful students, which also did much needed volunteer-work, were enabled to participate in the retreat through this fund. Thank you in advance for your generosity and compassion.
If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please request an application when you send in your registration form and deposit. Applications will be accepted until May 15.
